4 hours This course is designed to instruct pre-service teachers in the literacy development and integration of speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing, and visually representing. Students will gain competence in the skills of designing and managing meaningful reading/language arts learning experiences and in the knowledge of content and methodology recommended to effectively teach and assess children from kindergarten through 3rd grade. Prerequisites: C or higher in EN101 and CM101 or CM110. Must be taken concurrently with ED305. Must be taken the academic year immediately prior to student teaching. Must apply to teacher education or consent of education department chair.
