Lecture, five hours. Course 116A is requisite to 116B, which is requisite to 116C. Introduction to dialect of Arabic spoken in contemporary Iraq, with emphasis on conversational proficiency. Recognition and production of sounds of Iraqi Arabic and basic vocabulary, grammar, idiomatic expressions, and relevant cultural background through dialogues and other conversational exercises.
