Introduction to semiconductor optoelectronic devices for optical communications, interconnects, and signal processing. Basic optical properties of semiconductors, pin photodiodes, avalanche photodiode detectors (APD), lightemitting diodes (LED), semiconductor lasers, optical modulators and amplifiers, and typical photonic systems. Letter grading.
