Review of equilibrium principles; forces and moments transmitted by slender members. Concepts of stress and strain. Transformation of stress and strain. Material constitutive laws (stress-strain relations). Tension, compression, bending, shear, and torsion. Yield criteria. Virtual work principle. Energy theorems. Structural applications to trusses, beams, shafts, columns, and pressure vessels. Letter grading.
