-Fa (3 hours) The purpose of this class is to familiarize the student with the major historical and political debates of comparative politics. Particular emphasis will be placed on the topics of political economy, new institutionalism, ethnic conflict, state and nation building, sources of prosperity, corruption, political communication, and political parties. Other important topics covered will be the role of women in society, economic development, ideology, cultural values and traditions, and religion in politics. (even years)
