This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by instructor. Open-source philosophy, history, and advocacy. Includes identification of current legal, ethical, and economic issues. Also covers a survey of available open-source software and comparison of open-source and closed-source licenses. (3 Lec.)
