This is a Texas Common Course Number. Prerequisite: Developmental Reading 0093 or English as a Second Language (ESOL ) 0044 or have me the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standard in Reading. A survey of Texas development from early Spanish colonization (1500) to the establishment of the modern urban state. The course emphasizes the variety of influences from Indian, Spanish and American cultures. The social, political and economic evolution of the state, including the multi-ethnic character of its population, is studied. (3 Lec.)
