This is a Texas Common Course Number. The first part of the course deals with the archeology of Mexico beginning with the first humans to enter the North American continent and culminating with the arrival of the Spanish in 1519 A.D. Emphasis is on archaic cultures, the Maya, the Toltec, and Aztec empires. The second part of the course deals with Mexican history and modern relations between the United States and Mexico. This course is cross-listed as History 2380. The student may register for either History 2380 or Anthropology 2380, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.)
