Surveys Western theatre from the Elizabethan period to the present. Examines the influence of non-Western forms and developing aesthetics of Early Modern drama. Connects the diverse social, political and philosophical forces which shape the theatre as an expression of the modern world. May not receive credit for both THEA 319 and 301. Prerequisite: THEA 300. Three hours per week with enhancement.
