Designed for middle-school mathematics teachers and others who want to enhance their capabilities in mathematical reasoning. Selected topics from discrete mathematics, including sets, logic and proof, relations, graphs, recursion and combinatorics, with a special focus on constructing and presenting well-organized arguments and justifications of mathematical statements. Graduate credit only. Prerequisite: Admission to graduate study (student does not have to be admitted to graduate program). Three hours per week.
