Introductory survey of the historical development of world religions. Specific examples drawn from such diverse cultural traditions as ancient Babylonian, Judeo-Christian, imperial Chinese and modern American religious movements. Fertility gods and spirits of nature, augury, omens, possession and prophecy are among the topics analyzed. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing or permission of instructor. Three hours per week with enhancement. Meets General Education IIB.
