A study of African-American literature and its relationship to African-American movements and the experience of African- Americans in America. Authors may include Wheatley, Douglass, Jacobs, Harper, DuBois, Washington, Hurston, Wright, Ellison, Hansberry, Baraka and Morrison. May not receive credit for both ENGL 307 and ENGL 383. Prerequisite: C or better in ENGL 102 or 103. Three hours per week with enhancement. Meets General Education IB (Prior to Fall 2008: IA).
