Detailed study of the primary linguistic systems, including phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax and pragmatics. Introduces important sociolinguistic research concerns. As the course is designed for teachers in training, students apply those linguistic concepts to practical language learning problems. Prerequisite: C or better in ENGL 102 or 103. Three hours per week with enhancement.
