Study in literature written by American authors during the Harlem Renaissance period, beginning with the key concept of the period, W.E.B. DuBois' Double Consciousness. Readings include, but not limited to, the poetry of Hughes, McKay, Bennet, Fauset and Cullen; the fiction of Nugent, Fisher, Toomer, Larsen and Walter White. Prerequisites: C or better in ENGL 102 or 103. Three hours per week with enhancement. Meets General Education IB (Prior to Fall 2008: IA).
