SMS 420 - Aquatic Therapy

Description:
Students will gain knowledge and skills to work with clients in the water for swimming, exercise, and leisure. Current research and protocols will be reviewed for clients with diabetes, arthritis, pregnancy, or orthopedic injuries and more. Legislation and risk management will be addressed. Use of special equipment and communication systems will be introduced. Three lecture/lab hours per week are required, plus a 10 hour field experience. Required for Aquatic Management Concentration. Major elective. Open to all students who have not received credit for SFL213B. Prerequisites: One of the following: SFL152 or SFL291, or SMS140, SMS141, and SFL215B or SMS320, or equivalent skills, or permission of the Department Chairperson.
