This course explores the social factors that influence the delivery and consumption of medical and health care in the United States. The roles of medicine and of the health care provider and the patient are examined in a variety of settings. Specific issues confronting American medicine are considered, and the health care delivery system is compared with systems from other countries. Three lecture hours per week. Prerequisite: SOC201 or permission of Department Chairperson.
