A continuation of Music Theory III. This course covers 20th century theory including atonality, serialism, pitch-class sets, and developments in rhythm, texture, and notation. A survey of composers, techniques, and philosophies of composition since 1945 concludes the theory sequence. It is strongly recommended that students take this course concurrently with MUS370. Three lecture hours per week. Required of all Music majors. Prerequisite: MUS332.
