The folklore of New England is a mirror of the region's places, people, and culture. A rich legacy exists in the material cultural, stories, songs, and customs that continue to shape regional society, landscape, and identity. This course explores folkloric aspects of selected communities to better understand their cultural diversity and, at the same time, to appreciate their underlying human similarities. Three lecture hours per week.
