This course examines the African American literary tradition from the modern period to the present, including the Harlem Renaissance, writings of the 30's and 40's, and the "New Renaissance" of the 50's, and more contemporary writings. Not open to students who have received credit for ENG397. Three lecture hours per week. Prerequisite: ENG102, ENG102E, ENG103, or ENG106H.
