Exploration of the pathways for each of the senses from the transduction process through the perceptual mechanisms. Emphasis on tracing the physiological path from external stimuli to the area of the brain responsible for turning a physical occurrence into a mental perception. Examination of competing theories currently used to uncover mechanisms involved in perception. Liberal use of simulations and demonstrations. Prerequisites: PSY 103 and one upper level psychology course. Offered periodically.
