CraftsBasic Craft Survey exploring terminology, materials, and processes of traditional and contemporary handicrafts. An emphasis will be placed on investigating historical and contemporary uses of the five core Fine Craft media: Clay, Wood, Fiber, Precious Metals, and Glass. Also the importance of the roles of functionality and craftsmanship will be examined. The course will consist of lecture, research, hands-on studio projects, verbal and written critiques, and discussions. Lab fee required.
