This course seeks to provide an introduction to the history of East Africa, principally the modern states of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Special attention will be devoted to issues of multi-cultural contacts at frontiers of exchange, involvement in the modern world system, imperialism and neo-colonialism.
