COMM 301 -- Media Law and Media Ethics (3) This course examines the legal and ethical dimensions of modern mass media. Students are introduced to various ethical theories and models, which provide a basis for the critical and systematic analysis of case studies and arguments. Students study current, relevant mass media law, emphasizing precedent-setting court cases in the United States. Topics addressed include: libel, slander, defamation, sedition, pornography, indecency, blasphemy, obscenity, privacy, intellectual property, copyright, propaganda, and commercial speech.
