This course will focus on the call, role as disciple, leader, and mystic practice of Mary of Magdala and women followers of Jesus and his mission. The course aims to provide students with exegetical skills towards the use and understanding of Scriptural Criticism from the perspective of the social world of the writers and redactors of the text. We will examine the social world and literature of the cultures that developed the oral tradition, Judeo-Christian Scriptures and ancient Gnostic writings and codexes towards an understanding and reconstruction of the image of Mary of Magdala. Meets LAC outcome: AIC1. 3 crs.
