Review of basic musical forms, from the motive, phrase, and period to 2- and 3-part forms in the classical style. Students select musical examples to study sonata, rondo, minuet, and trio, and variation forms. Various analytical techniques are explored to gain an understanding of the nature and content of musical expression. Prerequisite: MU 203. This course meets WID (Writing in the Discipline) outcome. 3 crs.
