This course explores some of the common childhood exceptionalities encountered by educators in the school system, including learning disabilities, sensory impairments, and talented youth. These exceptionalities will be considered from educational, developmental, and psychological perspectives. Emphasis will be on identification and intervention in the schools, as well as on relevant special education laws. Prerequisite: PSY 201 or equivalent. Meets LAC outcome: HCC4. 3 crs.
