With the understanding that students have mastered the basics of writing fiction, this advanced workshop encourages risk-taking in the creative process and respect for the writer. Students concentrate on sharpening the language and focus of their work, and the course investigates by what means writers engross readers in their fictional world. A range of representative short fiction is used as a point of reference for discussing how voice, dramatization, significant detail, and other elements can be improved in students' own work.
