2 credits This is a course designed as an alternative to SMP 2043N and is intend ed for select students. Qualified students select the techniques course(s) relevant to each sport in which certification is desired. Topics include game preparation situation, game strategy, scouting, effective use of per sonnel, practice planning, specific sport training, teaching and analyzing skills and team play, score keeping, record keeping, and statistics. In addi tion to the techniques classes, the student is required to observe, evalu ate, prepare and teach for at least six (6) hours in an approved college sport program. Students are evaluated Pass/Fail. Prerequisite: SMP 1033N, 1040A. Corequisite: SMP 2042N (With first techniques course only) Student must have permission of both the Department Coordinator and instructor. Offered: 2008 - 2010.
