3 credits Principles of, and protocols for, general translating and interpreting are presented, then applied. Students develop proficiency and problemsolving methods in translating and interpreting for special purposes. The use of personal computers for glossary management, specialized diction aries, and on-line terminology banks is an integral part of the course. Codes of ethics and variations in certification processes are reviewed. Prerequisites: Three semesters of college Spanish or the equivalent, and per mission of the instructor or Department Coordinator. Offered: 2008 - 2010.
