3 credits This is a professional business-related course that will provide stu dents with an opportunity to examine the legal framework of collective bargaining as it applies to the labor relations and management work envi ronment. Emphasis will be placed on effective business strategies, tactics and procedures for ensuring successful negotiation processes. Students will learn how to build a strong bargaining team, prepare proposals, estab lish ground rules, cost out contracts, formulate contract language, and deal with impasses. Internal and external factors affecting negotiations will also be discussed. Students will participate in simulated collective bargaining sessions. Offered: 2008 - 2010.
