3 credits Student teachers attend a subject specific seminar that focuses on pedagogy for the special subject in which certification is taught - middle childhood or adolescent grades. Focus is on requirements and effective strategies for teaching knowledge of the Learning Standards in the specific subject at the intermediate and commencement levels. Instructional methods and practice teaching skills are linked to content. Methods for self-assessment and improvement in both content and pedagogy are emphasized. Prerequisites: EDU 1021A, EDU 1081A, EDU 1140A or SMP 1032A, EDU 3127N, EDU 3128N, EDU 3146N, EDU 4150A, (EDU 1160A and EDU 4149N, if seeking middle childhood certification); LIB 1101N; PSY 2016A; a minimum of 30 credits in content area; 6 credits of foreign lan guage; and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Corequisites: EDU 4194N, EDU 4196N. Offered: 2008 - 2010.
