This course will examine the principles, stylistic considerations and process of designing scenery for the stage. Work includes hand drafting, model building, portfolio preparation and image editing via computer graphics programs. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to understand the principles of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design aesthetics as applied to the theatre art of scenic design, demonstrate sensitivity to, knowledge of, and aptitude for the art, craft, and process of moving the script onto the stage, and demonstrate the ability to apply a conceptual approach to production. Prerequisite: THE 101, 108. Offered alternate fall terms.
