Provides an in-depth examination of political, social and cultural history, from the 1920s to the early 1940s. Students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate knowledge of the background to the economic collapse of the Great Depression, the rise of Franklin D. Roosevelt's "NewDeal," and the beginnings of the Second World War. Students also will gain a deeper understanding of U.S. diversity, from region to race, from rural to urban, and from liberal to conservative strains of political thought.
