Provides comprehensive exposure to international debates/conflicts arising from global environmental decline and competition for scare and vital resources. Resource issues are likely to play an increasingly important role in international affairs, and unless given greater attention by the international community, will provide a significant and growing source of friction and conflict at the international and intra-national levels. Using case studies, students explore environmental security, resource scarcity, global governance and interdependence in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. May not be taken for credit by students who have received credit for PSCI 390J.
