Emphasizes historiographical approaches; the roles of women in early Islamic societies and later empires; issues concerning class, ethnicity, and religion; work, marriage and family; colonialism, nationalism, and modernity; and women's participation in twentieth-century social and political movements. May not be taken for credit by students who have received credit for HIST 300F. Meets major requirements in women's history.
