The areas covered are: atomic and molecular structure, chemical and physical properties of bio-organic functional groups, carbohydrates, fats, amino acids, proteins, enzymes, hormones, nucleic acids, digestion, nutrition. Also discusses the aesthetic, humanistic and practical aspects of science, where applicable, related to economic, health, historical (including contributions made by women and minorities), and/or political issues influenced by chemistry. Intended for the non-chemistry major.
