Prerequisite: Completion of first, second, third, and fourth semesters upper division courses. Designed to be a capstone course of the baccalaureate nursing program. Emphasis is placed on application of nursing interventions addressing client needs: safe effective care environment (management of care and safety and infection control), health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity (basic care and comfort, pharmacological and parenteral therapies, reduction of risk potential, physiological adaptation). Validation of nursing knowledge related to critical thinking, decision making, prioritizing, delegation, problem solving, leadership/management and evaluation is a key component of this course.
