An introduction to the interdisciplinary field of future studies, this course will examine how the future has been represented in various media and forums: e.g. speculative fiction and film, world's fairs, utopian communities, government planning, policy analysis, etc. After analyzing what others have predicted, students will construct their own scenarios for the future. Prerequisites: One lower-level social sciences or humanities course focused on American society or culture, or permission of the instructor.
