CH 322 - Organic Chemistry 2

Institution:
Alverno College
Subject:
Description:
Prereq. CH 221; CH 234 - The student applies the structure-property framework in the analysis of chemical transformation. She uses reaction mechanisms and retrosynthetic analysis in designing multistep syntheses. In the laboratory, she focuses on the development of professional, ethical behavior by working both collaboratively and independently on a number of inves- tigations. The student works independently on a synthesis project of her own choosing, taking responsibility for all aspects of the project. She modifies published procedures for the synthesis of organic molecules, designs computational experiments to support her wet-chemistry work, and verifies product structures using spectroscopic methods.
