Prereq. MT 123 and, beginning fall 2010, CH 113 - The student studies the basic concepts of stoichiometry and equilibrium, focusing mainly on how these apply to solubility and acid/base chemistry. She also practices applying the ideas of accuracy and precision in the evaluation of data. In the laboratory, the student practices basic quantitative measurement technique in the context of gravimetric, titrimetric, and colorimetric analysis. She also designs and carries out an independent investigation in which she applies one of these techniques to the analysis of a real-life sample of her choice.
