ED 201; ED 215 or ED 215R; Praxis I scores met; for AE/AET majors: AE 222, ED 220, PSY 110; for AT majors: A 189S, A/IMD 193C, AE/AT 285, CM 156Q, PSY 101 - The student gains an understanding of the field of exceptional education and of specific abilities and disabilities of exceptional learners (cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, speech and language disorders, behavior disorders, physical disabilities, and giftedness). Using a problem-solving approach, she is introduced to strategies, techniques, and classroom modifications that are instrumental in responding to individual differences among students with exceptional educational needs.
