- In this course, the student learns how terminology used by health-care professionals is constructed, the common roots of medical words, basic terminology of various areas of practice, and general pronunciation rules for medical terms. In this way, she develops and demonstrates her command of, and comfort with, the technical language of health care so as to be proficient in communication with patients and other professionals. Participation is by referral only.
