(4 cr hrs) This course is an examination of the methodological foundations of the social sciences with an emphasis in criminal justice. Students are introduced to the logic and technique of empirical inquiry, the nature of social facts, the operationalization of concepts, the construction of hypotheses, research designs including questionnaires, interviews, experiments, observations, and evaluation, organization and analysis of data; graph and table construction and interpretation, common problems associated with social science research and research ethics.
