Study of spatial and temporal dynamics of interactions between species and their environment, with emphasis on the use of both mathematical and descriptive models to understand ecological processes at the species, community, and ecosystem levels. Examination of the role of genetics, physiology, reproduction, and dispersal in shaping organism ecology. Extensive laboratory component including the use of experimental and natural populations for student projects. Prerequisites: Biology 210 and 211 and Mathematics 151, or departmental permission. Three lecture hours and four laboratory hours. Four semester hours.
