This course examines major issues in psychology as they have been addressed throughout its history, from the writings of the Greek philosophers to twentieth century theories and experimental investigations. These issues include mind-body relations, processes of knowledge acquisition such as perception and learning, characteristics of human motivation and personality, and the nature of thought and memory. The philosophy of scientific inquiry in relation to the field of psychology is also considered. Prerequisite: PSYC 100.(4 credits)
