Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the interaction of exercise and the cardiovascular system. Topics covered include the basic structure and function of the cardiovascular system, the physiological response to exercise, the electrical activity of the heart and its relationship to cardiac function, and specific common cardiovascular medications used in health care today. The course will focus on the use of the electrocardiogram as a diagnostic tool during exercise. Prerequisite: BI 220. FA, even years.
