This course provides guidance and practice in crafting stories for the media. Attention is paid to defining clear message points, organizing information for clarity, persuasive versus journalistic writing, and writing for and understanding different audiences and media. Students gain experience in a variety of written pieces, including story pitches, feature articles, interviews, media advisories, public service announcements, and basics of writing for multi-media and video news stories. By the end of the term, students will have produced a series of stories that are directed for publication in the Talon News Network print, web, and audio publications. Prerequisite: CO 125 or EN 111. SP.
