Examination of several economic concepts which are useful in understanding legal rules: externalities, the assignment of property rights, and Coase's theorem. Examples are drawn from the fields of pollution control, no-fault insurance, medical malpractice, and product liability. Prerequisites: Economics 100A-B or 105A, or concurrent enrollment in Economics 100B.
