Students are provided with the analytical tools necessary to undertake research on visual representations. Images, as cultural productions, are steeped in the values, ideologies, and taken-forgranted beliefs of the culture which produced them. Of concern are representations of race, identity, gender, and the "Other." Same as Anthropology 137A. (VII)
