Develops ability in analytical thinking and problem solving, using problems of the type found in the Mathematics Olympiad and the Putnam Mathematical Competition. Students taking the course in fall will prepare for and take the Putnam examination in December. Pass/Not Pass only. NOTE: satisfies no requirement other than contribution to the 180 units required for graduation. Recommended for prospective teachers. May be taken twice for credit.
